Hi! My name is Kaisha and I am the creator of heal me happy. A website dedicated to bringing you recipes that are healing and nutrient dense, as well as delicious.
My story
Much of my life I struggled with mental health issues, mood swings and depression. After my second daughter was born I was plagued with severe exhaustion. My family physician didn’t have any answers, even tho there were times I could barely get out of bed for weeks. This is when I sought the help of an amazing naturopath and began my natural journey. I had always been interested in the natural and had tried many different supplements in the past, but this is when I began to devour book after book on the topic. I couldn’t live in my body the way that it was and I would do anything to change it. Being an extremely goal oriented, hard working, determined person, not having energy to do all the things I wanted to do just wasn’t a way I would live my life. I refused to let it get me down and when blood tests came back showing a high sensitivity to many foods, I chose to look at it as an opportunity to eat new and more varied things.
I trained at the Culinary Institute of Canada as a pastry chef and have worked in many different kitchens over the last 12 years. This knowledge, plus what I have learned about healing foods has really helped me through what could have been an extremely difficult time. Instead of feeling sorry for myself for not being able to devour pizza or cheese or ice cream, I was able to overcome this by creating recipes that, to me, ended up being just as delicious as the foods I left behind (and much more nutritious). I also began experimenting with all things soaked, sprouted, soured or fermented.
My Mission
I created Heal Me Happy to share the recipes I have created along the way. Recipes that my three kids (7,5 and 2) happily eat and love. Recipes that heal and restore. I really hope they help you the way they’ve helped me!
Please reach out if you have any questions. I would be more than happy to answer and help you out in any way I can.
Blessings!
